Suppressors Thunder beast RR brake module mishap

I was out shooting with a buddy today lobbing some 300 PRC at a mile when about 50 rounds in his RR brake module shot off the front off his Magnus suppressor. Unfortunately we were unable to retrieve the brake as it got lost down the hill at the range. I was curious if anyone else has had this issues before (If so did they warranty the brake and or provide any details as to why this might happen?). Dan, one of the guys that runs the range told me this is the third instance hes seen where one of the RR brakes shoot off. I also have a Magnus RR suppressor (~2000 rounds on it) and never had any issues with it. I did check, the brake was tightened down prior to shooting. Hi,

This happens if the locking ring is not kept tight. The two causes of that happening are it simply not being tightened correctly, or carbon getting on the tapered mating surfaces preventing it from actually being tightened metal on metal (when the carbon disintegrates slack is created).

He should submit an RMA and we'll replace it, along with additional instructions on how best to tighten the RR locking ring.

The system was designed with a huge safety margin provided that the ring is tight.

This happens if the locking ring is not kept tight. The two causes of that happening are it simply not being tightened correctly, or carbon getting on the tapered mating surfaces preventing it from actually being tightened metal on metal (when the carbon disintegrates slack is created).

Pretty wild that a person's first inclination is to ask a bunch of nobodies on an internet forum instead of the company that made the suppressor. This thread could have just been a phone call to TBAC.

Even if his buddy who owned the suppressor was going to reach out to TBAC, glad the story got posted.

The end result is educating a bunch of people about a potential problem that can be easily prevented and another example of TBAC custom service in action.

Pretty wild I posted this on a weekend when the company is closed. Also wild that the first person to respond was an employee of TBAC detailing causes of the issue and what to do in the future to prevent it. Like @oldmanwithagun stated, sharing things like this helps shed light on consumer mishaps and potentially prevents others from having the same issues. Also shows how great TBACs customer service is.

Again, thank you Zak for replying to this post as quickly as you did. It’s great to see a company that cares dearly for their customers is willing to help even after business hours. Glad I’ve purchased two of the Magnus RR cans knowing they’re backed by great people. Customer service is one of my most important aspects when doing business with a company and whether or not I continue to do so. Thunderbeast arms will have my support for years to come!
