I got out of LR matches for the last couple years, sold most of the gear I was using... but the itch is still there, barely.
I do have a 20" tikka ctr, running suppressed. I haven't worked up a load for it yet, but I have a bunch of the new sierra 169's.

Anyone think with the higher bc, that i can get these fast enough to be worth it at 1000 out of the factory barrel?

yes the gun can do it the question is can you ? send pics lots of photos and narration on the pics ,l best of luck and hope you have fun .

Any calculator should tell you if you'll make it. My 16" with 168s goes transonic somewhere between 750 and 800 usually (sea level), which makes 1000 pretty spotty. I would think as long as you're dropping subsonic after 900, you should be good, and you might be subsonic a little after 1000 depending on how much powder you pack in there.

If I can do 1000 yards with my 16” DTA with 175 FGMM without a sweat I’m sure you’ll be fine with 20in with a tuned hand load if the wind is not too crazy.

Also in my experience, even though the 175 SMK aren’t the greatest on paper BC wise, they’re very stable throughout the transonic range, same with the Bergers Tac 175 and 185 and also the 175 TMKs. Haven’t tried the 169 but if they behave like the 175s, you’ll probably be able to reach 900yards super sonic out of a 20in barrel so I really wouldn’t worry about 1k.

    No way
