New member here, been really enjoying the site.

looking at making my first LRP shooter and I'm excited.
this is what I am looking at doing right now,

tikka 3tx 24" ss barrel 6.5m creedmoor
nightforce atacr
Mcmillan A5 stock
atlas bipod

I'm making this gun mainly for sport shooting and my adventure to a 1 mile shot.
all thoughts and ideas are welcome thanks

That sounds like a nice build that you will enjoy. 6.5 Creed is a challenge to a mile, though it can be done. You'll love the results to 1000. Easy peasy. Then, depending upon your location and DA, to 1500 is a good time. After that, while 6.5 will get there occasionally, a better ELR cartridge will be more satisfying at the mile marker.

Well, opinions being what they are, mine is; sure, why not. The Tikka will shoot great, the stock is a good solid stock, the scope is a great scope and can be used on anything, as is the bipod. What's not to like? Put together the rifle that you want and go shoot the snot out of it. It's possible, likely even, that at some future time you will want something else or in addition, but there should be no concerns about this as a first LR rifle.

I just put my T3X in a Manners T4A and love it. Picking it up from the smith today ( Getting it bedded ). Check out the T3 sticky above. Lots of good info in there for your tikka build.

I've never had first hand experience with manners or McMillan. But I shopped forever before settling on a KRG w3 for my CTR, so I'm familiar with what the companies offer. Manners does offer the T4 for tikka, but I think that's the only one that is a "drop in." To my understanding, other manners stocks can be made to fit tikkas, but they require additional options that limit your choices. It seems to me like McMillan offers more stocks and options for tikka. They even keep some in stock that you can buy right away. So, both are known to be great stocks, but if you're going manners, make sure you read in detail what you can and can't get.

Thanks for the info guys, I feel I'm on the right path to a great gun, this is a great site.
I'm going to put a few builds together then swing over to wellington,oh and visit the sac team
