Gunsmithing Tikka barrel swap help...

Ok guys I currently own 3 tikka rifles.

T3x tac a1 308
T3x ctr 260
T3x lite 243

my dilemma is I like shooting the 260 and 243 much more than the 308 Because of the flatter performance. But I like the ctr and tac a1 chassis/stocks better than the lite (metal mags, bigger black bolt knob, etc....) so what I was wanting to do was to pull the 260 barrel and throw it in the tac a1 and the 243 barrel and throw it in the ctr. Then take the leftover 308 barrel and throw it back in the lite and sell it as I have a couple other 308 rifles. All being 308 parent case calibers and same short actions is there any issues that I am not thinking of? If there isn’t issues, any idea what a competent gunsmith would charge to swat these three barrels?

thanks for your time

save yourself time and money and hassle

buy an action wrench and barrel vise

you can do it in your basement

tikka barrels are good to go. they headscape good enough to take prefits

here's the issue and where you MAY need a smith. taking tikka barrels off can something be a royal bitch without a relief cut

Yeah must have had a brain fart. Looked at my tac a1 and since my rings covered the screw holes in the scope rail I thought it was not able to be removed and thus would be the only action to work with the tac a1 chassis. Ok so with that said, I will just remove the actions and bolts. I am not a fan of the blingy polished bolt and knob on the 243 so I will swap that whole assembly with the ctr one and just throw the shiny one on the 308 lite I’ll be getting rid of. Like others have said I’m guessing My only problem now may be having to open up the lite stock a bit to fit the heavier profile 308 barrel.

if you're gonna get rid of the 308 it might be easiest to sell as just a barreled action and either keep the lite stock or sell it too

should be pretty easy to get rid of a 308 tax a1 tikka barreled action
