Was curious, what magazine does the STOCK CTR use?

If dropping the CTR into the XLR Element chassis (once available) are there any modifications that have to be made when using the AI mag?

I guess the other question would be the folding mechanism adds 1.7" to the LOP. If going with a AR carbine receiver extension and Magpul CTR/riser, would LOP be minimally 13.5" or less with stock collapsed?

Mark - I have not played with the xlr chassis with ar collapsible stocks. I personally like the Tac - Lite and Tactical stocks that XLR makes.

No mods need to be made to the tikka to run AI mags.

I just received some XLR stocks and happen to have an extra Element with a Tac - Lite stock for the Tikka. PM if you are interested.

Sounds good-no money right now though:( Unless you or anyone is interested in a like new JM 1894 in .44

Do you know what the stock mag is, though I read somewhere that it was different than AI.

Tikka's are produced in Finland with Sako rifles. They have a 10 round mag in the TRG, so that is what they went with. I am sure they would like to sell more of those mags for $200 a pop.

The XLR chassis use AI AICS mags.

I think it has to do with the CTR being a competition/target rifle. Most competitions need at least 5rd mags, with 10 being more mainstream. As such, I can see why Sako/Tikka went with the TRG mags (capacity). Who knows, perhaps it'll bring the prices down as more rifles are released that use these mags.

More to mark5pt56 's point though, that is why I am leaning towards a chassis as well. AICS mags at $70 a piece I deal with, but when the mags are 1/5th the cost of the rifle and only work with that one rifle...makes me start to look at other mag options too (like you stated)...
