Tikka mags?

Re: Tikka mags?

I do not know of any aftermarket mags that can be used instead of the factory mags without swapping out the bottom metal or switching stocks.

I have been using my Tikka T3 in .308 for 5 years and have not had any issues with the mags. (I have the 5 round Tikka Magazines).

What caliber is your Tikka and which mags are you using?

Re: Tikka mags?

I agree. The factory mags weigh practically nothing and I've never had a problem with them. I'm the type that likes to fix what isn't broken, but I've never seen a need to replace my factory Tikka magazine.

Re: Tikka mags?

If the issue is you want to use OEM stock with 10-round mags, buy a CDI bottom metal, inlet the stock & use AI mags is the available option.

OEM mag is very sturdy, lightweight and feeds 100% reliably. Heck, I've had more issues with TRG and AI mags. Random question -- how come polymer mags for bolt gun are shunned while everybody swears by Fagpul mags for ARs?

Re: Tikka mags?

I used to have people tell me that the Tikka mags sucked because they were too restrictive on overall length and that a stock remington LTR was so much better for this purpose.

My brother in law had and LTR in .308 and the interal mag in the LTR was noticeably more restrictive in the overall length of the reloaded rounds than my Tikka mag.

While I would prefer if the Tikka accepted AI mags from the factory, my rifle shoots well enough and has been completely reliable so far.

If my rifle was to be used in a LE role, I would upgrade the bottom metal to take AI mags or go straight to a KRG stock.

Dunno bout everyone else, but my Scout is not ammo picky run sub-MOA with everything loaded 2.800-2.820 and sub-0.5 MOA with tuned 168 & 155 loads. Loading for jump becomes pointless when you consider the polymer stock isn't exactly premium match grade...

Re: Tikka mags?

Asside from length, don't think i've ever heard a complaint on Tikka mags. The only people who really complain are those who have some false belief that plastic mags are in some way inferior to metal.

Gotta say, i've seen more metal mags break than decent quality plastics.

Sounds like my Tactical shoots like your Scout. Good loads that will still fit in the Mag will consistently shoot around 0.5 MOA.
