Anyone ever rebarrel a tikka? I have a T3 lite that would maybe make a good project. Just curious what it would cost and how the results have been. would love to see pics if anyone has them.

I'd bet Mac Tilton has done quite a few. Your lathe has to be able to cut Metric threads....

Re: Tikka rebarrel?

Lot's of interest in Tikka's recently. I love it!

My 300WM rebarreled at 1500'ish rds. Installed Rem. 700 style Tubbs recoil lug at the same time. There was no extra charge for the rebarrel, just find a smith that will deal with metric threads.

BTW, we faced the receiver to better match the profile of the Tubb's lug and my smith said that the original face and threads were perfectly square to the bolt raceway, confirming what I've been told about how true (in addition to stiff) these receivers are.

Re: Tikka rebarrel?

I rebarreled a Tikka T3 recently. Nothing special to doing it. It was a 6.5x55, results were astonishing with the new Krieger barrel. Im on the wrong side of the world to help you, sorry. But you should definitely go for it.

Re: Tikka rebarrel?

I worked with a gunsmith who builds rifles on Tikka actions. He is a top Highpower shooter.

Mac Tilton @ MT guns also does a nice job on Tikkas

Hey, in McKinney. I was there, last week.met a good guy down in Kerrville if that's not too far. Hill Country Arms, 1013 Sidney Baker 830-792-7722. Is funny, his name is Josh. Vet. Knows his stuff, though we didn't talk Tikkas, specifically. I'm sending something to work on.
Anyone know any smiths in Texas that do good Tikka work?

Chad Dixon and his team at Longrifles, Inc do excellent work on Tikkas. I got a Bartlein med Palma barrel, sent it over to him and a few weeks later the T3 was back here shooting .5 moa. He'll want to put a tombstone recoil lug on it, which makes sense with most stocks. I'm using a KRG X-ray, so I kept the Sako/Tikka style lug.
