I'm having a 22" Bartlein 6.5 CM screwed into a Tikka action and looking to send the barreled action to H&M Metal Processing (blacknitride.com) when it is done. They say it is not a problem to send in a complete barreled action, as long as they are about the same hardness. The barrel is stainless and the action is blued.

I would tend to think a Sako and the Tikka would be heat treated the same. My question is: where are they on the Rockwell scale?

Has anyone had a Sako or Tikka action done, and what were the results? Please state if it was stainless or chromoly and if it was done with or without barrel installed.

Regards,
-Dan

The importer (Beretta) handles all inquiries, and they will not say. They told me that Tikka chooses not to give out that info.

idk what they do now but i remeber reading a thread on a sako forum about my action (L579) was in the area of 30RWS or there about. it has bee a few yrs since i found that info and cannot seem to find again., but i have never had the action dent even falling/sliding down the area of the N side of grand canyon were i was bore hunting. Gun fell on a rock fairly hard.
