Just wonder where the Tikka rifle owners getting their replacement barrel from? In terms of brand, specifications, special features etc.

I am thinking to get prepared before the barrel shot out and Tikka doesn't supply them, which kind of push their sales up.

It's the 6.5 Creedmoor, I believe I only need to replace the barrel, the current action, bolt still can be used with a new barrel, right?

I saw there is a post back to 2017 mentioned about the barrel from Patriot Valley Arms, not sure if anyone used before, any review about it?

If anyone knows any good manufacturer in Canada that would be really appreciated. Or any shop ships to Canada also works.

Thanks.

Go Big Tactical (Prince George, BC) is the distributor for PVA in Canada, and they do make Tikka prefits that I believe are Barloc friendly.

There's Insite Arms (Lloydminster, AB) as well as International Barrels Inc. (Chilliwack, BC) can also spin up barrels for the Tikka.

You can also contact Bighorn sales, Mystic Precision or Hirsh precision to import a variety of manufacturers.

Of the ones above, if you're in a hurry, International Barrels would probably be the fastest as they manufacture the barrels from start to finish on site. The Ultimatum Deadlines use IBI barrel for their barreled actions.

Thanks a lot.

Will check these businesses out. Not in a rush, got 3-4 months to set up everything for the shooting season.

Do you know how good is PVA's barrel comparing to other alternatives with the factory one?

I have no personal experience with PVA barrels, but from what I've seen on here, they seem to be of excellent quality. Only caveat is the wait times.

As I mentioned before too, I believe they're Barloc compatible for an easier barrel swap if you end up choosing to have more than one barrel. Ex: shorty 308 for bushwhacking, 6.5 for long range work with the same action. You can order both through Go Big Tactical.

Yes, your action stays the same and only the barrel is replaced.

Bartlein, Proof, Rock Creek, Krieger, etc... pick one and it'll shoot. What really matters is the guy running the lathe. There are plenty of well respected smiths on here. Josh @ PVA is one of them. They're currently at ShotShow so expect a delay with getting feed back, but send them an email with what you're looking for and they will square you away.

Thanks a lot guys.

I have contacted Go Big Tactical in Canada for further details regarding how to order a new barrel to fit the Tikka. Unfortunately, it seems they only do barrel for Canada, not with the action/bolt part.

By the way, when I disassembled the rifle the other day, I found the barrel can not be untwisted/unscrewed from the action part, is that I did something wrong or need some tools/gunsmith help to seperate them?

Thank you.

As Spife's humorous and sarcastic response alludes to (Yes, Spife, I'm chuckling with you, not at you), you'll need a barrel vise and action wrench (of some type) to get the OEM barrel off. Depending on when the rifle was made will likely affect how difficult it is to remove. The early Tikka T-3's could be a real bear to get off. The newer rifles seem to not need as much swearing to remove...

As Chad at LRI has demonstrated, in lieu of an action wrench, a well made vise (with parallel jaws) can be fashioned into an action wrench for breaking the OEM barrel loose. The Tikka actions have very true/straight sides; hence why a vise will work as an action wrench without fear of tweaking/twisting the action out of spec.

I would avoid IBI as I've heard they have issues with stress relief. Heard this from 3 different sources that have experience with IBI (x2 of them gunsmiths)
