Tikka T3: can it run an AI AW mag?

As in the header. Can I run an AW mag in my Tikka T3? I have a KRG chasis on a factory Sako TRG stock and want to run the shortest mags I can. 5 round AICS wont fit and 10 AICS are silly long.

Alpha Mag would be great if only I could get them in the UK.....

You might ask Hellbender on here. I believe he was doing this at some point but I can't remember for sure. I would imagine that some cutting on the action may be needed, i.e. for the offset feedramps. Good luck and post pics!

As Justin said, you will have to do quite a bit of cutting on the bottom of the action, and whittle some on the feed ramp to make it work. It was more trouble than I wanted to mess with.

A TRG-22 mag would probably be easier to adapt, it would be less trouble.

You could also just cut the magwell down on the TRG forend to fit the 5 round AICS mag, this would be the easiest mod of all.

I have a Tikka T3 223 in a KRG Xray chassis. I slightly insetted the underside of the action to allow 10rnd AI and MDT mags to fit correctly. Any competent gunsmith should be able to do this. The mags function fine now.
