Tikka T3 Tactical Question

Hi guys,

I just bought a Tikka T3 Tactical, and I have two questions:

First, where is a good place to get a good muzzle brake? The factory picture shows it with a brake with three slots. I could only find that exact brake at SniperCountryPX.com for over $200. I found EGW's with four slots, for $80 a few places on the internet. Any thoughts or experience? I really want the original one with three slots, but paying $200 more dollars after paying a ton for the gun doesn't sound appealing. It is the threaded barrel.

Second question-The gun didn't come with the quick disconnect studs on the front and back of the stock. There are holes, but they are recessed screws. Is the rifle not a true tactical? Are the QD studs that come with it just generic ones I can pick up at the store?

Thanks a lot for your help, I'm new to the sport of long range shooting.

It's a 308 Win with a 40 power super sniper scope.

Thanks!

Re: Tikka T3 Tactical Question

Check e-bay for the real sako/tikka brake. I seen a few sell for around $100.00. I have a co-worker that loves hit t3 tacticals, I think you will too. Keep us posted.

Re: Tikka T3 Tactical Question

Buy Once, Cry Once.

Save the pennies and get the Sako brake.
It is threaded properly for the T3 Tac. The Tikkas and Sako are metric thread pitch. I have one on my .308 and it is a shooter.

Don't really NEED the brake, but it does make the gun a pleasure to shoot. Almost no recoil. It does make it alot louder for the people beside you though.

You could save some money and risk ebay, but I would buy from Sniper country PX again. Speedy shipping and it comes in a factory sealed box, so you know it isn't an airsoft replica being passed off as a real brake.

just my 2 cents,

When all else fails, read the instructions:

From the Tikka manual:

SLING-SWIVEL STUDS
All Tikka T3 models are equipped with standard sling-swivel studs under the fore-end and butt-stock. The front sling-swivel stud can also be used to fasten a bipod to the rifle.
The T3 Tactical is equipped to accommodate sling-swivel studs both underneath the rifle and on either side of the stock. Military-type sling-swivel studs are available as accessories and can be assembled on the rifle. Inserts are
covered with ball-headed Allen screws which can be removed with a 3mm Allen key when assembling the studs. The lower swivel on the butt-stock can also be replaced with a military-style one. Carrying slings with military-type swivels are also available as accessory.

MUZZLE THREAD
T3 Tactical model features a threaded muzzle, which enables you to attach the muzzle-brake or sound suppressor (where legal) to the rifle. Pitch of the thread is M18x1. The rifle comes equipped with a standard muzzle-thread protector sleeve. NOTE: The T3 Tactical accepts the same muzzle-brake as
the Sako TRG series rifles.

So if you don't want to spend $200. for the Tikka brake, find one that has M18x1 pitch threads.

Re: Tikka T3 Tactical Question

I've extensively shot the factory TRG brake on both it and the T3. I've also shot it off/on plus side by side comparisons with (an older version since updated) NEAR and an Elite Iron MaxTac. The Elite was clearly superior.
I have heard the Roedale brake works great.
Bottom line: I prefer the Elite Iron and highly recommend it.

Re: Tikka T3 Tactical Question

The T3 tacticals shipped out here come with a little bag of parts, among them are a couple of sling loops.

Take a look at the brake manufactured by PGM of france, they have M18x1 and the brake is the 2nd most efficient we tested.

If you are interested in ours, ( which was the 1st most efficient we tested) 30+ M18x1 brakes came of the machine at 19.30 last night, ready to go in about a week.
Infact if lowlight and I can get organised this week there will most likely be another group buy.

whicherev brake you choose, don't forget your ear defenders,

Re: Tikka T3 Tactical Question

Thanks for your help guys. Is there any site where people have pictures posted of their T3 Tacticals? I would love to check 'em out!
