Can this gun be found in .243 caliber? Betting it would be quite the shooter. </div></div>

Its listed as available in the catalog on their site, but I'm not sure who imports it. I know baretta is one of their main importers and they dont carry anything except .223 and .22-250. i would love one in .260 stainless myself.

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

Could it really be true that Beretta wouldn't make a few cents by importing T3 in 6.5x55? Cannot think of any reason for them to stop importation of this caliber, except for the possibility that they are jacking up the demand so they can increase price or introduce a more expensive model soon

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

Problem is Beretta is one of the worst examples of a large gunmaker that is stuck in their ways. They are terrible to deal with and in general a PITA. I really wish Tikka would find a different importer but aren't they actually owned by Beretta now? For what its worth I have seen a T3 Lite Stainless in .243, but I haven't ever seen a Varmint in it.

6.5x55 and .308 are on a huge backlog from Beretta, not sure if it is because SAKO can't make enough guns or if the demand in Europe is that high.

6.5x55 T3 Varmint is on my wish list but just can't be found. I have a nice stock made by Lauronen waiting for it if I ever find one.

Wonder why they don't simply respond to the market force - stop producing T3 in other calibers that they do not sell so well, and shift the production to the the hot selling calibers/varieties

Savage is always the master in doing this. They just came out with 6.5CM in the 12LRP line. They already have 260 Rem, but for guys ho do not relaod like me, it might be just my next rifle after I sell the TRG42

I am sure Beretta is thinking the US market is all about .223 and 22-250, plus .308. SAKO makes plenty of T3's in 6.5x55, Beretta just doesn't seem to be interested in importing them to US.

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

I inquired the possibility from several dealers to get a group buy together but no luck so far. Alex @ EuroOptics is getting T3 Sporters in 6.5x55 later this year but I would rather have a T3 Varmint.

I know. Go figure that one. Is the 260 really more popular in Europe than in the US? Every time I go on Gunbroker or gunsamerica, the 260 and 6.5x55 sporter rifles are getting top dollar so there must be a demand.

I won't mind getting another Tikka 6.5x55, especially the varmint

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

I have borrowed and played a bit with the T3 sporter.
It's really a wonderfull gun and its hard for me to say enoguh good things about it.
I have a Varmint myself where I switched out the stock and I am very satisfied with it, still i am really tempted for the Sporter (as well).
So if Eurooptics are going to import the sporter in 6,5, go that route, its a great gun and the stock is very similar to the TRG stock.
But the sporter is farily light, it looks heavy but its really no problems to use off hand.

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

What is the sporter going for comparison wise to the varmint and the light? I've been curious if it were available what it would run. Realizing exchange rate and everything else involved.

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

in my opinion the sporter have a stock that is really good and user ready, really nice to use.
And if you don't like the colour, paint it.

While the varmint has something where other guns have a stock....

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

I would ditch the stock no matter which one I would buy. Unless I could sell it to make up the difference in price, Sporter doesn't make much sense to me. Might as well then get a used regular T3 and have a gunsmith change the barrel.

Re: Tikka T3 varmint

To answer the OP, I've a .243 stainless varmint in a KKC stock and it is a serious performer out to about 900 yards with the 90gr Scenars and for 500 yards or less the 87gr V-max is stunning. When shot out I'll rebarrel in a 1:8 or quicker for the heavies.

I've had a .270 varmint rebarreled in .260 with a Manners T4 - just having it finished off. A donor action T3 and custom barrel of your choice is a great way to go.
