Hi guys, first time poster here. I was looking around in the gun store and they had a Tikka TRS-1 in stock I can pick up for $1700 in .260. Problem is is I cannot find very much information on the TRS-1 because of the limited release. Is anyone familiar with that rifle? I know it is basically a CTR in a Mcrees, and I know those are two great platforms, but I would like to seem impressions on the complete offering.

Second problem is the TAC A1 is about to be out and is around the same price as the TRS. It will be a longer barrel, have more mags, but is still a new platform (but I am sure it will be a great one). Also now that Savage is about to release the Ashbury, and I have my eye on that as well.

Really just looking for a 260 or 6.5CM. I have a 700P in .223 for my standard 100 yard range gun, now I need something that will let me work up to 1,000 and possibly get in to competing. Already have a Gen II PST 5-25X on order to match up with whatever rifle I get. Thanks,

I would suggest the Tikka has the smoother action and $10 on a Yo Dave lightened trigger spring is a great upgrade if you want to go below the factory trigger weight.

The TSR-1 says it has an adjustable trigger down to 2lbs. Is that not typical of the Tikkas, or is the spring still recommended?

I have a CTR in 260 that I am putting in another stock soon. If it was out when I was looking, I would have bought the TAC A1 24" in 6.5 Creedmore. More factory ammo available and the Lapua brass for the 6.5 Creedmore. The TAC A1 has a 2 stage trigger, the TRS-1 is single stage. My factory trigger adjusted down to less than 2 lbs.

Between the 2 Tikkas, I would choose the TAC-A1. It is based on the new T3X, has a longer barrel, and has a new two stage trigger only available on that model.
