Early 20th century pushes for exercise in the U.S. stemmed from “white supremacy” in order to produce “more white babies,” according to a TIME Magazine piece that also blamed the coronavirus pandemic for having “accelerated fitness inequality,” and alleged it is wrong to presume that fat people are “not fit” or that they “want to lose weight.”

The essay by staff writer Olivia B. Waxman, titled “The White Supremacist Origins of Exercise, and 6 Other Surprising Facts About the History of U.S. Physical Fitness,” describes the evolution of U.S. exercise trends, which allegedly began with “reinforcing white supremacy.”

I guess I was was wrong . I always thought Skinny fit White People came from hard work to survive, combined with bare necessities of nutrition ?

Fitness is an adjective that must be qualified by the activity for which the individual is said to be “fit.”

For example, an NFL wide receiver has high fitness for catching an oblong ball and running a relatively short distance. He is not, necessarily, fit to be competitive in a marathon.

By that same token, a “fat person” is not necessarily fit to run that same marathon, or catch that ball. But, survive starvation? Absolutely. Fittest people on earth.

We typically ascribe “physical fitness” to those best suited to lift heavy objects and/or run long distances. But, for most of human history, the biggest struggle was just to get enough food to survive.

Anyone remember what happened to the first (recorded) guy to run a marathon distance? He f’n died.

Ever watches the ‘Alone’ series? All of the winners have been a bit ‘chonky.’ Not one has been a willow-boned wisp. Even the ripped guys fall by the wayside relatively fast.

That said, the push to normalize everything keeps going on. No, by the modern definition (high cardiovascular health), fat people are not fit. Now, I’m not talking about the “Little fit, Little fat” worlds strongest man competition kind of fat. I’m talking ‘front butt, bat wing, moo moo wearing, corn dog hanging out of the mouth like a 1/2 smoked cigarette while swilling a 2 liter bottle of soda, Jabba the Hutt’ kind of fat. No, you are not healthy. You are not physically fit for anything beyond existence, and your co-morbidities make that a low probability.

Clay made it, he was the skinniest of the bunch. He was of course a good hunter though and schwacked a deer early on in the series...I digress though.

I do get what you are saying though, and I have pondered this myself. "Fit" can be a pretty subjective term. Medically obese, if we use the same standard that has been used forever (Body Mass Index) is completely fucked. When I am fit for my purposes, I like to weigh somewhere between say 200-210lbs. By my purposes I generally use a one mile run in under 7 minutes as a good benchmark and the ability to occasionally lift heavy objects over a distance. I do alot of backcountry hiking and hunting and being able to have a 35-55lb pack on and hike 5-7 miles is also a good benchmark for me. If I use the BMI, (I am 6' tall) I am overweight, even bordering on obese. If I got down to 180 (which is supposedly a "healthy" BMI) I would look like I was emaciated.

My non scientific method is to try and eat healthy enough to maintain a weight that I can still exercise with, while keeping a decent "cushion" so to speak for some fat reserves. All of which by the way seems to be getting harder and harder to do as I get older.

Yeah, modern standards would have you believe that if you can’t see a ‘six pack’ you are overweight.

But, you don’t need to be ripped to be a productive member of society. So long as someone’s fat ass isn’t a drag on society, I don’t care how much they weigh.

At ‘fight weight’ a 50 lb pack is 1/3 of my body weight, but I don’t have any issue carrying it over broken alpine ground. I’m a bit over that today, and my goal for q1 is to get back there.

All mainstream media is now propaganda for the .gov and .gov is planning on a white genocide eventually.
So, they have to roll out the PR program to demonize Whitey. Got to dehumanize us 1st. Before it becomes acceptable to start the round up!
Of the evil bad white supremacists at 1st. Just to reeducate them, so they can someday reenter society.
Of course. it will sadly become apparent that there is no reeducating them white supremacists. So, there will have to be another solution!

I said in another gun forum that the groundwork was being laid for a war on white Americans a number of years ago.
I was attacked by a couple of people on that forum. I posted a link to a Harvard paper on CRT and how they were planning on getting
that social engineering into all public schools. I was told to not even go down that road by one guy.
I told him. I would post and discuss whatever I wanted. We could disagree on the topic. But I for one wasn't going to ignore reality!
I think it's very clear that the open borders and all the white supremacy propaganda isn't for nothing. There are people pushing these stories
and those people have a reason for doing it!

I will not be selling my workout equipment as I am immune to leftist propaganda. Hell, I still have weights from the 1st set. I bought when I was about 14.
And yes, I still lift and workout regularly. Guess, I've been a white supremacist since the age of 14. I am at the tail end of my 50's. Still maintain the weight
I was at in my twenties.
