For me it was always Connery. Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore were always too much 'pretty boy'.

Ive been watching a couple of the newer ones with Daniel Craig, Casino Royal and Quantum of Solace and he's damn near as good as Connery. Below is a list of all 8 who've played him.

    Your favorite?

Moore, he was what I think Bond should have been. He was the upper crust English gentleman who get dirty and fight in the mud. Connery was too rough around the edges when younger to play the sophistication needed for Bond imho. Daniel Craig is tranny posing as a man and he fking sucks.
Landsberry or however you spell his name was excellent too.

Moonraker was the 1st Bond movie I ever saw but I grew to like Connery the best.

Fleming wanted a named star like Burton or Grant and settled on Connery however, he did initmate that he thought Moore was who Bond was and the best adaption of his character. Moore was not a star when casting for first film.

I love the trivia on these old shows like Star Trek where they made the clothes next door overnight and smuggled them in prior to shooting to avoid the union hassle on set (or something very close to that)

moore. probably because those were the first ones i saw.

when i hear “bond”, i think instantly of connery. pierce was good, craig is probably my favorite. but i think that has more to do with scripts and lack of stupid bad guys. ( jaws, oddjob and such). some of that shit was just fucking stupid.

now....bond villian? that might be a better question.

Connery. Initially it was Moore due to him being my first Bond. But then VHS and rentals became a thing and I rented ALL the Bond movies and Connery is definitely the one. Craig does a nice job. Dalton sucks. Bronson was the epitome of Bond. Moore was the most fun. Lazenby was a blink in time and my least favorite Bond movie. Never Say Never Again is my favorite Bond film. The Craig era takes itself a bit too serious.

Pierce Bronson is who was James Bond as a kid so he’s my favorite
I get this, and it probably is why my favorite is Roger Moore (with Connery a close second). When Moore stepped down I was all-in for Pierce Brosnan to get the part (from watching him on Remington Steele), but they gave it to Timothy Dalton. Hated him. But then Pierce got the part and I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the result. I thought he was born to play the part but I later changed my mind. Dalton is not too bad, not sure who could do better right now.

My first Bond movie was Thunderball when I was 11. Saw it in a movie theatre and was hooked from the beginning with the silhouettes of naked women swimming at the start of the movie. Connery is probably my favorite but certainly like the edge that Craig brought to the character.

So when It comes to bonds, you have 2 archetypes, the rugged bonds (Connery, Moore, Craig)....and the posh bonds( brosnan, Dalton, lazenby?)

So naturally my father, Sean Connery, is the best bond.

After Connery I really like Rodger Moore, he's sort of the right amount of "ruffian" and "sophistication"

In third place ide put Dalton, he's a little more posh, but he still looks like he could kick your ass

In 4th ide put brosnan, he's a little too preppy, I don't get the feeling that brosnan feels like he could die at any moment, nor do I really feel like he could genuinely kick anyone's ass.

In 5th I'm putting Craig.......so this is a tough one for me because I actually like Craig's films.....but they aren't "Bond films".......Craig is not nearly suave enough.......also, if you remove any mention of "James bond" from the film, you wouldn't even know you were watching a bond film.....there are no gadgets, no chauvinism, no quirky villains with death rays........Craig's films are really more akin to the Bourne series than Bond.

And in last place we have lazenby....because we all love to hate lazenby

I like this analysis. Although I'd probably switch Moore and Connery for 1st and 2nd (actually, I'm thinking it's really a tie), and would definitely switch Dalton and Craig for 3rd and 5th, your arguments for each are dead-on. Craig is a better Bond than Dalton to me, but his films need just a touch more of that crazy Bond stuff in them that Mike Myers spoofed with Austin Powers. "Bourne, not Bond" is something I hadn't realized, but is true.

Wonder how many people are going to ask "WTF is a Beauceron?"
A French herding dog (some say from 1500) that was the predecessor of the Doberman. Highly intelligent, strong, loyal, late to mature (a pup until 3), used as service animals (and in war), hallmark is a rear double dew claw. They move a lot faster than that clip - thats a light gallop.

The movies changed a lot over the years but I liked Connery, Moore, and Craig. Connery did a great job of defining the character and created big shoes to fill.

I’m well aware of the breed, you just don’t see many out and about. A lot of people don’t know about them, which isn’t a bad thing.

I grew up reading the books from my grandfather’s collection in the late 70s and early 80s so I have a fondness for both Ian Flemings books and the movies. The movies got almost comic bookish to me and then recently seemed to cycle back toward being Fleming-isque.

I think Connery and Craig are more the patriotic, womanizing, killer type. I liked Moore, but he got just a bit too flip.

Put me down for Connery and Craig.

View to a Kill was the first one I saw, so Moore was initially my favorite, and Christopher Walken was a great villain as only he can be with his style.

As I grew up, I enjoyed Connery for his womanizing style (still do) [Suck it, Trebeck]. I actually did enjoy Dalton in Licensed to Kill. When they re-vamped the series with GoldenEye and Brosnan, it was absolutely fantastic.

And the cheesy plots, villains, and gals (Pussy Galore 😍😍) of yesteryear....that's what makes it special.

I think Moore was the most Patriotic, not sure how anyone could Craig was

I couldn't stand Moore. He may have come off as sophisticated, but he came off as wimpy too. I actually liked Brosnan, he did a decent job. But Connery is the gold standard, even though I thought he had an ego a mile wide. Craig IS cold and driven; that's what makes him a good agent, so he is very close to Connery for me. Dr, Goodhead has my heart.
