Timing a new brake on a Remington 700 - help

So I bought a few RWS brakes from Ross; one for my Remington 700 in .223, another for one in 308 and one for my LR-308. What's the best way for me to time these without doing any machining to the brake or the rifle? Crush washers? Peel washers? I tried a crush washer on the Remington 700 in 223 and while it "works", the barrel is a HB, so the washer is a bit smaller in diameter and looks bad. That would probably also be the case with the Rem 700 in 308. Obviously a crush washer would work fine for the LR-308.

So, any suggestions on what to use for the Remington 700's?
