I have an old Remington 700 ADL .270 that belonged to my grandfather. I would guess it’s from the 60’s. The trigger is quite bad so I just swapped it out for a Timney Elite Hunter. I got everything adjusted like I wanted. It works perfectly outside the stock. When I put everything back together and work the bolt it slam fires. It does seem like the shoe might be a bit too wide for the trigger guard. Should I just grind on the trigger guard a little bit to give it some more clearance? Has anyone run into this before?

The trigger mechanism needs to be clear of the stock and trigger guard. File away.
