Re: tiny copper rings

full length size and trim on a rcbs pro trimmer with a three way cutter to chamfer and deburr at the same time. then tumble and then load.

Re: tiny copper rings

It is the edge of a case that was not chamfered. I have seen them when seating bullets. I have always removed them before firing the cartridge. Suggest you inspect any finished rounds you have closely to see if there are others. You will either a distinct ring or a partial one.

good luck

Re: tiny copper rings

If it's little copper rings then It's the RCBS Trim Pro. When you seat bullets you get little straight slivers of copper, not rings. The Trim Pro cutter head creates those rings.

My guess, during trim some got inside the case and when you fired was pushed down the barrel. You found it with your cleaning rod.

Re: tiny copper rings

If you get "slivers" when you seat that means you need to chamfer the case mouth. It is possible that mock's chamfer cutter on his 3 way cutter needs adjusted. If you had that problem you would see it when you seat, unless you don't inspect your round when you are done. It looks like little fingernail cuttings of copper from the base (or boat tail transition) of the bullet.

Descibe the ring. Is it a solid metallic ring or is it like ring around the collar on the patch? If it is a new barrel it could be copper from rough spots or a bad leade in the throat. If it's shavings from your load process, they can cause other problems and needs to be corrected before going to the range again.
