I am buying some cleaning supplies. I have a 223 and a 308. Can I get away with just using the cleaning rod I purchased for the 223 or should I get a 308 cleaning rod as well from tipton. Your thoughts?

Re: Tipton Cf Cleaning Rods-- One for each caliber??

I have the standard CF Tipton that works for my 223, 243, and 308. I also have the Tipton 50BMG cleaning rod for the 50 and possibly a baseball bat if necessary.. The smaller rod does have some flex to it, but I use a bore guide so everything seems good. I don't worry too much about a carbon fiber rod harming my steel barrel

Yea that should be fine. If you're putting a lot of flex on a CF rod then your patch is probably too tight. I usually buy a brass brush that's a caliber smaller and wrap that with a narrow strip of cotton. And of course if you take the copper out plan on shooting 20-30 rounds to put it back in

I would get a rod for both and I do for my rifles. Too much flex in a .22 rod in a .30 for my liking especially if you are using a generic bore guide or none at all.

Get one for each ! .22 will flex way to much. Mine does and it's one piece S.S. cleaning your rifle is where most the damage gets done to your bore ( according to many shooters ) before you clean look at some of the posts on cleaning. Do yourself and the rifle a favor and read.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it!!!! Done, just ordered one for the 308. Also ordered the gunslick bore guides. They really look like top quality kit!
