I have the money for a suppressor, have had for quite some time now, but I put in a job application in another state over a month ago. They STILL haven't finished processing the applications! I had been putting off buying one because I wasn't sure if I'd be moving while my form-4 was in processing.

Well I'm tired of putting it off! If I buy the can now, and end up moving in a month, how do I transfer it? Can it be done and what do I need to do?

If I have to wait any longer I might end up buying a new mountain bike instead and use up all my suppressor money.

Should I just wait it out? How big is the hassle?

    Thanks in advance.

My first thought is if you do wait for the form 4 to go through, the can is still at your dealer in state#1 which you will technically no longer be a resident in that state. The dealer couldn't transfer it to you in that case. As stated above I would call BATFE.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the advice. Funny that the two responders to this post are from CO and OH, since I live in CO and applied for a job in OH!

If I started a trust here, would that transfer? I'm looking at moving to Delaware county just north of Columbus. Suppressors are legal in OH.

I asked the exact same question to the ATF and their response was basically if you move to a different state while a form 4 is processing you have to cancel the app, transfer the suppressor to your new dealer in the state you moved to and then start over.
