Hi!

I'm loading a bullet that has only 0,230 inches bearing surface, and the bullet will actually be in flight betweene the brass and the rifle lands in my rifle.

I load really concistent, and sort out bullet run out with more than 0,0015"

So the problem... I'm shooting groups down to 0,450" with my rifle with this load, but not all the time... Sometimes groups could be up to 2,5" (2 close and one far away) Could the short bearing surface be my problem? Could the bullets entry of the lands be my problem?

Re: to short bearing surface on my bullets?

Sounds likely? That reminds me of some military .224" bullets I bought in bulk many years ago. Wouldn't stabilize at all in a 1X14" twist. Had a very short bearing surface and a canilure, (how is that spelled, I know it's not right) Is this a FMJ bullet, by any chance?

So, you know the problem. Get a hold of some better bullets and try again. BB

Re: to short bearing surface on my bullets?

Its a match bullet used in my 308barrel with 1:11twist 155grs

The bullet is good, but probably not for my rifle. New bullet is ordered, and with this i'm going to start 0,015" from the lands (longer bearing surface but same wheight)
