So I'm getting around to reloading my once fired brass and checking some measurements before I set up the trimmer and this threw me a curve. Tell me if this is logical.

Max case length: 2.035
Trimmed Length: 2.025

All Nosler brass.

Unfired: 2.016
Fired: 2.010
Sized: 2.016

I checked a large selection for those measurements and it is pretty damn consistent. Is it logical that the brass shortens upon firing and then I'm so fortunate that full length sizing with a RCBS die stretches back out to the original length? Safe to assume there is no need to trim these?

If it matters at all I'm shooting 142 SMK's at 2820 out of a 24" Krieger barrel.

Not exactly sure what your saying, but you would measure and trim after resizing, not before. If after you've sized this brass the lengths are still below minimum the 2.025", then there is nothing left to trim...rock on.

I have 6-7 firings on my 260 nosler brass, i have not had to trim brass yet. I use a lee trimmer so trimming chores are easy if required . My load ia a 142 smk@2830 out of a 23.75" tikka t3 sporter.
