Hi,

Took my custom AICS to the range today to get it re-sighted after moving the scope a bit more forward. The rifle wears a Nightforce Benchrest 12-42X-56 scope with the NP-2DD reticle.

I am not doing too badly off the bench, but I am having a very difficult time shooting groups from a prone position. I am trying to get a good sight picture shooting prone, but I am afraid I may not quite set up with the correct eye relief. I am too embarraed to post my prone shots.

If anyone wants to offer me some prone shooting techniques, I am all ears!

Here are a couple of targets fired off the bench at 300 yards. The one with the blue siloutte was shot at about 20X. The black taget was shot at about 30X. Looks like the zero changed on me with the higher magnification. There are 6 shots on the siloutte and 10 shots on the black target.

3Per,

Please excuse my ignorance. I was not aware of the forums policy on posting "group" shots. I can assure my photos were not edited in any way otherwise they would have been much better!

No one is claiming you edited your photos my friend, but your targets arent clean. No sweat anyway, just trying to make you aware of a sensitive issue here.

First, fill out your profile.

Second, you may want to look into the Sniper's Hide Online Training provided by RiflesOnly. Well worth the paltry summ for great info.

Re: Today at the range with my custom AICS rifle in .3

Set your scope in the rings when you are in the prone and with the scope on the highest magnification. That is where your eye relief will be most critical.

Place the scope as close to your eye as possible in the prone. Keep recoil in mind.

The reason for this is that when you are in any other position your eye will be further from the scope than it is in the prone. If you set up the scope for the bench, when you go prone it may be all whacked out.
