So, my 260 build done by Mike Badella in Madera, Ca. finally got to run a bit yesterday. I took it to an even 1,000 yards and collected my needed dope for that distance, "Shooter" was off .2 mils... Once I was consistently on center of a 16"x24" plate, I went down and repainted the target. The winds were 7-9 MPH from 8-2 o'clock(ish) so I dialed .9 left (.2 to account for spin drift and coriolis). The center punched hit was my first round fired in that group, followed by the other two. My intention was to fire a five round group, but I wussed out because the winds just STOPPED between shots 3 and 4. I didn't want to mess up a good group. Center to center was 4 inches with 3 inches of vertical spread. Load is: 140 VLD, 46.4 grains RL22, Rem Brass, CCI BR-2 primers, .010 from lands.

Stay tuned for some 5 round groups, maybe I'll take her to 1,200 next week, which is the farthest distance I can safely stretch it at my house.

Very nice! I have yet to stretch out my Mega MKM .260 yet. Hope to do so in the next few weeks since I joined the 1K range in Central Michigan. I love the .260 round. I just picked up 500 Berger 140 BTLR bullets to work up a load. I was unsure of the jumping the VLD in the gas gun. I get good results with the 142 SMK.

Nice rifle and great shooting!

Rifle spec? Is that a vld target or vld hunting..hmm ima try this load :)

Remington 700 SPS action, blueprinted, bolt knob installed
Krieger M24 contour 5R 1:8 twist, threaded 5/8x24 with thread protecter, finished at 23" (22" from the front of the recoil lug)
Tubb recoil lug
Chambered in 260 using PT&G "tight match" reamer with .060 free bore to get 140 VLD's near the lands using AICS mags
McMillan A3 with molded desert camo, 90% carbon shell, pillar bedded with Badger pillars and DevCon
Timney trigger set at 2.5 pounds
PT&G bottom metal, AICS mags
TPS 20 MOA steel base with recoil lug, 8X40 screws, bedded with DevCon
Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44, TMR reticle, TPS 34 mm Rings
Metal parts cerakoted in coyote tan
Harris 6-9 and 9-13
Machine work done by Mike Badella of B&M Gunworks in Madera, Ca.
Bedding, scope mounting, trigger install done by myself

This "group" was from 933 yards. The top left shot was a first round hit (Target VLD), adjusted POA to center on target fired three more in sequence (Target VLD). The hit on the far right of the group and the lower two hits were with the Hunting VLD's, same exact load otherwise. The target VLD's seemed to impact about .1 mil low for some reason, still not too shabby for being two different bullets at 933 yards!

**As always, work up to this load from a 10% reduction!!**
I used the load data from Hornady's manual with a 140 AMAX, as berger did not list RL22 for the 140. It is .2 grains below Hornady's max load IIRC, it is also slightly compressed using Remington 260 brass. I cant remember what my OAL is, but CBTO is 2.206 using the Hornady lock-n-load guage with the .26 insert.
