I am building my first AR based rifle and need some suggestions as to the rifle specific tools required. Suggestions for suppliers would also be very helpful. My rifle is a JD Machine upper/lower with Magpul PRS,Geiselle DMR,Lilja barrel etc.

You will need a combo barrel wrench, A barrel vise, An upper receiver fixture A roll pin punch set, a standard punch set, if you are doing free float handguards you will need a good strap wrench. As far as suppliers for parts you cant beat Brownells or Midway for having most of what you need and fast service.

Thanks Sniperhandle,
I am pretty well set for the punches, but wondering about the upper receiver fixture. I notice they are available in both aluminum and Delrin, is the Delrin strong enough to handle barrel nut installs! Im fortunate enough to have a metal fab shop including tig welding and sheet metal equipment but not going to make whats already available.

Re: Tools of the trade-need some help

The delrin one works fine, the official torque is 35 ft pounds for the barrel nut, but most of the time in my case that is just a guideline as the nut has to be aligned for the gas tube to go through the upper receiver, so it may take a little more and sometimes even a little more.
