I’m in love with trackers and have a few of them. I always have one on me when I’m out in the wilderness or on a hike. Which do you carry?

Benchmade man here, I've had quite a few, the one's I've kept are the 940-1 (daily pocket), adamas (backpack/in the woods), socp (vest/backpack/pocket occasionally), and griptilian (out working when there's a good chance it could not make it home).

Ultimately the knives I’ve beat on the most are tops knives. But half face blades are the most awesome. I’ve got a number of benchmade knives, those adamas are nice!

I have every model of tracker. Three tracker 3’s including the anniversary s35vn unit.

Tops knives are awesome as fuck. I’ve got some where around 40 of them.

Tops makes some decent knives ... I’ve sold a lot of my collection but the ones I’ve kept are the mohawk hunter , max the mini axe and cut 4.0 ... gonna be selling 4.0 soon it’s brand new... If you love trackers check out wenger blades trackers ... I just picked up a micro tracker in nitro v...

Those wengers are beautiful. I’d have to call them for a custom if anything. Half face blades are my go to source for any custom blade. Check that Half Face thread, you’ll see some wild pieces.

Love the cut 4.0, that’s my oldest daughters preferred knife to carry.

I have a Tom Brown #4 and ordered a Baja 3.0 and Brakimo some time back. If I ever receive the two I just recently ordered, they may be my last Tops Knives due to my recent poor experiences with Tops CS. The knives took longer than the quoted lead times provided multiple times and they shipped them to someone else and have done next to nothing to fix the problem.

Covid or not, there’s no excuse to be okay with poor customer service and tarnishing that relationship. I’m not going to sympathize with a company that couldn’t meet the terms they set forth on multiple occasions, then be okay with them sending my late products that I paid for, to someone else and not even be offered a solution to rectify the problem they created.

Sounds like a real pain. I’ve never had anything but an awesome experience ordering 10 knives direct. Mostly I’ve ordered from vendors and never one issue. The knives are reliable as hell and priced well. I’ve turned lots of people onto them. The customer service issue happens. I have to make people wait extra long several times a month.

Great product at great prices are not the norm.

I enjoy a nice knife, I may own a few🙄. But my favorite is the one my uncle made me. A heavier version of a Lakota fish hawk. And yes, that is a 10mm headstamp .

Slab, that is indeed a sexy piece! But why so many dudes trying to thread hijack the tops knives thread? I’d is there a conspiracy against Tops knives?

The public wants to know? 😉

Now that I think about it their service has always been slow. The product is great though.

Sorry, I have never owned a TOPs so no pics. I do have questions about some of their product that might fit a need I have. I need to clear some trails through saplings tat are an inch plus thick and a variety of blacberry that has heavy stems and has dense dead under growth that has stems to the size of your thumb and is very springy. The product has to maintain an edge, have some reach, not be prone to chipping, have a grip that does not create hot spots with extended use and have a weight/balance that is appropriate to its task.

I'm looking at the two machetes, the El Chete and the Kuma Kage. If some one has extended experience with any of these I would like your impressions.

The el Chete is awesome. It’s a chopper for sure. Not a fast machete for moving through heavy brush. I cut down a tree w it after I got it, around 3ft diameter. Took an hour. There is a picture above.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.

I have 3 knives that are on permanent rotation,Benchmade 940 Osbourne.Fine edge, aluminum scales were replaced with yellow G10 that scales that I milled and hand finished. The other two are vintage Case folders,a Russlok and a sodbuster jr.Both are high carbon blades, the russlok had jigged blue bone scales that got cracked over the years, textured yellow g10 scales were machined for it as well, the sodbuster had black delrin scales sometime in its life, when I found it at yard sale in a cigar box full of fountain pens, knives, straight razors and assorted other bricks rack it had a sliver of black nylon/delrin scale left and eventually I milled a set of scales for it out of resin/glass/fiber too.

Welcome Jm. I’ve been hoping to see how many tops lovers there are here w this thread. There is a general what knife is in your pocket thread. Repost there also.

And since you posted in this thread. I’m going to have to ask you to check out tops offerings at minimum. I hope you will buy a reliable fixed blade for your kit.

I’m waiting for tops to reopen so they can send this which I have paid for 😔

That’s very cool man. What time frame did you work there?

Thanks man. Tops knives give me joy.

I worked there beginning of this year till about a month or 2 ago. I loved making the knives but could not stand the child molesters that work there.

Yes, chomos. There main and only knife making facility is ran and operated by a guy whos a child molester they have a few other guys there that are registered also. I can't work with those kinds of people. It killed alot of respect I gad for tops.

Usually I ask for proof of those kinds of things. I’m sure that would be difficult. Plus who is verifying employment. How do you come to be aware of these things?

Easily can find information on my states sex offender registry and Map. I check it everytime we get new neighbors has pictures of each person along with crime, address, and status of compliance. The person who runs and owns the shop is in charge of hiring there is a child molester i come across his name in the registry and was shocked because he was my boss. That in turn led to me finding others on the list that worked there.

I can’t say I’ve been so committed to searching the registry. I don’t really talk to my neighbors and my coworkers could not work where I work and been guilty of any felony anything.

I guess I have to trust that Idaho has been dispensing justice properly.

$200+ for 1095, chunky bevels, micarta, and thick blade coatings that hide rough grind lines? M’k, but there’s better bang for the buck. Tops has always struck me as the Tapout of the cutlery world. They’ve got a few decent designs, but the rest make it hard for me to take them seriously. The tracker is cool, but not at their asking price, and doubly so with the amount of reprofiling required to make it into a functional knife.

I have a B.O.B. its hands down my favorite fixed blade, it rides in my fire pack (wildland firefighter) all season and gets used a lot for camp chores, it batons kindling very well, cooking, etc. Its also my go-to hunting knife mine has skinned and quartered 4 elk, 6 deer and an antelope since I've had it. They are very easy to sharpen due to the scandi grind and 1095 and it holds the edge well for a long time. Cant say enough good about them, the only thing that sucks is the sheath, still working on a great solution for that due to all the different missions I use it for, probably need one for fire gear (kydex with MOLLE/ALICE) and ill make a leather one for hunting and general camping/bushcraft uses. The blade thickness is a non-issue in my opinion and is a bonus for some chores (ex batoning kindling, I've used this thing pretty hard).

I agree w this dude.

What you call chunky I call durable. Sharpen your own knife. You can be happy with your edge.

The tops nothers are not saws. They work so well. So useful.
