My guess is you have never touched a lathe.
Stories abound of fucked up threads causing baffle strikes or accuracy problems.
It's called piece of mind, a good reputation holds for all sorts of jobs you don't want fucked up like machinest, mechanic, doctor and so on.
+1 for TT not fast but right. </div></div>
Agreed!!!!
I have had SEVERAL "machinists" try to thread my barrels and only 1 got it right on the second try all the rest have been rethreaded by TT, but 1,Phoenix Armory and it was PERFECT also but they are not around anymore. I found out that "saving time or money" was not a good option when you want it done right, after all how much pressure is on the threads when the firearm is discharged? Most are probably OK for a flash hider but not a suppressor.
Same goes for a suppressor on my book, I have several cheap cans that I can't have fixed or even worked on.
American Mfg. Triple X - no longer around
T&L gun - 9mm Aluminum threads ripped out- no longer around
Phoenix Armory -still works great, but not around
SAS - Can has been back to them 3 times and the last time with the barrel -on my dime-, I am STILL getting a copper streak down the inside end cap - they can't get the threads right and nobody else will touch it. BTW I had TT thread this gun finally so I know it is right and my 762SD has no Streak in it.
Now I buy ONLY QUALITY suppressors and will wait for my threading to be done right, much easier to wait the first time than have to send it back up to 3 times and still not have it right.
When I ordered my 6 AAC cans I knew it would take a bit but was OK with it, the way I figure it is they took 9 months to get my EVO45 can to my dealer -the last to show up-,then the transfer. So once I get it I fondle it, shoot it, then put it away and figure out what else I want to get, so really they are saving me money, had I had it sooner I would have just bought something else.
