Suppressors Tornado Technologies

Re: Tornado Technologies

I understand that....but does that mean I should excuse the 10 plus week delay?. What would your reaction be if this was an automobile repair?, or for that matter any repair???

Does the fact that it takes 10 weeks beyond the six week estimate not count for anything? Should anyone willingly accept the excuse that we are busy and therfore not obliged to thread within the six week turnaround that was promised ....

I point this out not so much as a complaint but as a warning to those that are contemplating sending their gear to this comapny for work...

Re: Tornado Technologies

I had a similar issue when I had them thread a Contender barrel.
I told them I needed it by a certain date as I was going out of state on a shoot, they said "no problem". They called me a week and a half prior to me leaving and said that it would be in my hands prior to me leaving.
As it turned out, it wasn't in my hands. The gal said that it got pushed behind some other things and the guys were not able to get to it.
They did a great job but if you need it by a certain date, try another company.

Re: Tornado Technologies

I wouldn't send anything to them. There seems to be a lot of discontent and their wait times are nearing six months from some reports. I use ADCO regularly and have never waited longer than 2 weeks.

Re: Tornado Technologies

wow I can not believe you would send something to be threaded across the US over to my state and side of town to be threaded on the muzzle ? There has to be a competent machinist that is in your state or even your home town. Threading the Muz. is not complex or out the ordinary. I have heard of Tornado Technologies here but I just drive about 1-mile or less from my house to another excellent smith/machinist.
I bet here are more machinists that gunsmith than people think that live close to there locations. just got to look around.
Local small gunshops might tell you. If they have no machines in the back of the shop. someone has to be doing there machine work for them. They Might tell you. but they have to subing-out there customers work that involve machining lathe or mill. cutting. Then charge-$ more money because as there just being the middle man on work.

Re: Tornado Technologies

Tornado tech does a great job and they are very talented machinist's and because of this and the last 8-12 month frenzy they are seriously backed up. I have noticed just about everyone has been waiting 4-6 months. Steve at ADCO and the Gemtech custom shop both put out excellent quality work at extemely fair pricing. We use to use Gemtech all the time before we got set up to do our own and if I sent them something on monday 9 out of 10 times we would have it back by friday. The # for gemtech's custom shop is 208-938-2173.I do a pretty good job myself ,but not to many of you guys know me so I dont expect you to throw any work my way.

My guess is you have never touched a lathe.
Stories abound of fucked up threads causing baffle strikes or accuracy problems.

It's called piece of mind, a good reputation holds for all sorts of jobs you don't want fucked up like machinest, mechanic, doctor and so on.

+1 for TT not fast but right.

Agreed!!!!
I have had SEVERAL "machinists" try to thread my barrels and only 1 got it right on the second try all the rest have been rethreaded by TT, but 1,Phoenix Armory and it was PERFECT also but they are not around anymore. I found out that "saving time or money" was not a good option when you want it done right, after all how much pressure is on the threads when the firearm is discharged? Most are probably OK for a flash hider but not a suppressor.
Same goes for a suppressor on my book, I have several cheap cans that I can't have fixed or even worked on.

American Mfg. Triple X - no longer around

T&L gun - 9mm Aluminum threads ripped out- no longer around

Phoenix Armory -still works great, but not around

SAS - Can has been back to them 3 times and the last time with the barrel -on my dime-, I am STILL getting a copper streak down the inside end cap - they can't get the threads right and nobody else will touch it. BTW I had TT thread this gun finally so I know it is right and my 762SD has no Streak in it.

Now I buy ONLY QUALITY suppressors and will wait for my threading to be done right, much easier to wait the first time than have to send it back up to 3 times and still not have it right.

When I ordered my 6 AAC cans I knew it would take a bit but was OK with it, the way I figure it is they took 9 months to get my EVO45 can to my dealer -the last to show up-,then the transfer. So once I get it I fondle it, shoot it, then put it away and figure out what else I want to get, so really they are saving me money, had I had it sooner I would have just bought something else.

Re: Tornado Technologies

I had the same issue with TT. Sent them a couple of rifles, took much longer than they originally reported, finally got them back, work was done right but I won't send anything back because of the multiple lines of BS of yeah I'll get it done by x. Good work but sloooow.

Re: Tornado Technologies

I sent my 5.7 pistol barrel to them and got it back in 3 weeks. Their work is top notch but they do everything in runs because of the tooling they have to change out. You should call ahead next time and ask when they plan on doing them in batches. THey are slow but their work is perfect.

I have had great service from GAP and Surgeon turns my threading and barrel cutting around in a day or two, but thats if your sending them one of their rifles, not sure if they work on any others. Try GAP or Chris at Aquila Firearms. he has a website and contact info on there.

GAP will work on any rifle.

Not sure what Surgeon Rifles policy is as far as other manufacturers of rifles...

Re: Tornado Technologies

Like Ky said, they do their work in production runs+unequaled demand=long wait times. I am sure that there are many competent companies for threading, however I, along with most of their customers are thrilled with their work. It seems like along time now, but imagine the wait for a new can+Batf paperwork+expanse...
