I just got picked up my new to me fv-sr and boyd tacticool stock, I noticed there is a wood screw/ action bolt in trigger group and same for the mag plate, when ppl talk about their action torque setting are they talking about the action bolt and the wood screw? Or are they just talking about the action bolt on the trigger group and mag plate? And just do the wood screws a tiny bit tight? Also what is the should they be torqued too i have a torque screwdriver. Also do you do the forward one first or the rear one first?

If you're refering to the Boyd's tacticool stock for the Savage 22's, use caution when tightening down the screws, especially the front action screw. The wood is very thin in that area. I made my own bottom metal out of a piece of scrap metal I had laying around that was twice as thick as the factory metal, just for added strength.

Have the Boyd's tactical stock on a Savage 93 in 17HMR. The wood is very thin under both action screws and there is a huge gap as well. There are a few threads here on pillar bedding the stock, made my own out of aluminum.

Also needed longer screws to go with the stock and the thread is not to be found in any hardware supply. The Boyd's bottom metal is very thin so I ordered a replacement from D.I.P. in addition to the screws.

I had the rifle out when i first got it and it was shooting 1/2" at 50 yards i took the stock off to play with the trigger when i put it back together i was at 2" at 50 yards these things are very very torque sensitive, i managed to get back down to 1" but man am i ever pissed.

Yep, took the barrel and action out of my CZ 453 to take to the gunsmith and have the barrel threaded for my suppressor and when I put it back together my groups went way big. I'm still not sure if the guy that threaded the barrel messed up the crown or if I did it putting the action back into the stock. I've been doing some reading on this and it seems that some .22s especially are sensitive to torque in the action screws. One article said 20 in lbs so that's where I'm going to start and see if things don't get better.
