I'm guessing that this has been brought up before, but what are you're guy's thoughts on a 5.7x28 bolt gun as an intermediate between the 22 rimfires and 223? I don't really know much in terms of ballistics, but (I'm assuming) you'd get more range than 22 mag/17hmr and the possibility of reloading and can still use certain 22 cans.

I looked into it a while ago, as Savage was advertising that caliber among their new 2012 listings. Months later, Savage announced it was cancelling the chambering because it was unable to achieve acceptable accuracy.
I'd take that as an ominous sign . . .
