Does anyone know of a really tough 1" tube scope? I'm not necessarily looking for nightforce level, but as close as possible would be nice. I'm looking to turn a M1a into a hunting rifle and am looking for something compact and light while still being able to take the abuse of an M1a. I would like at least 6X magnification, although more is fine.

I know a Unertl 10X\MST-100 may fit the bill but is a little pricey and heavy.

Not a scope guru- but I know 7075 is twice the strength of 6061. So anything 7075 is stronger. And Burris has a truck on their scope body there- it's a solid billet body of aircraft grade aluminum which should be 7075- but they don't specify so who knows?

I would call the company find out which products are 7075 outer bodies if any, and look on Ebay for a used optic if I was on a budget.

Zeiss conquests are very light and durable. I tend to find them a little more expensive than I would like (for what you get) and they mix mil and moa elements but they are light and durable.

I shoot a 308 with a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 . The glass is very clear and I run it on 14 to 16X at 600 yards and it is easy to see a 3 inch circle at that distance. I would say it has to be one of the best 1 inch scopes out there.
