Sorry, thread after thread here, but I'm ordering all my stuff right now, so I'm kind of in a hurry. I'm sure you know the feeling. I want these things shipped out today LOL

on midwayusa, they're out of the EGW and TPS 0moa bases (steel ones)

they do have their 20moa versions though. I'll be shooting out to 1000 yards at most, and for that and the scope I'm getting, I don't need more elevation then I need. i'm ok with a flat base.

the warne one is a flat base, and in stock.

should I still go ahead and get the 20moa? are there are disadvantages to having a 20moa besides the added elevation?

and if it matters, the warne is 85ish, while the TPS/EGW is 65ish.

I'm over my budget right now, and every dollar is gonna be an arguement with my lady, so I need to keep it less as possible. LOL

About the only thing I'd toss a flat rail beneath and be happy about,is a Leupie MK4 M1 16x.

As much as I hate M3 3.5-10's,I still routinely drive 20MOA rails beneath 'em...though others balk at the very notion.

I'm confused, what does that have to do with the question I'm asking?

to zero a 20moa base, I have to bring up the elevation I suppose right?

how about rings? I guess the eye piece is going to sit higher now, and the front lower, so lower rings might now clear and i might need a higher ring? (from low to med)

Re: TPS/Warne/EGW bases, and 20moa disadvantages?

In a nutshell,20MOA inclination is about a .020" increase in deck height at the stern.

To zero a downhill cant, you need to adjust the erector down...not up,which of course leaves more erector travel on the shelf for rain days. Ring height is all but moot.

Hint.

Re: TPS/Warne/EGW bases, and 20moa disadvantages?

That will depend on how all your stuff comes together. If you know the size(objective) and heights(rings) of your set up, there's a thread with a formula in the scope section that will tell you if it will work or not. I'm pretty sure there is more to it though, I used it a while back so pretty positive I didn't cover everything.

oh, ok, so it's not a .020 decrease at bow, just a increase on the back. that's not too bad then.

I'm trying to see if I can zero the HDMR at 100 with a 20moa base. trying to find out the total travel for it.

Happiness is a CH of ocular clearance on the barrel, betwixt it and the flip-up.

damn, now that's a close call. LOL

wouldn't the barrel move that much when you shoot though? I mean that's like 1/10th inch

Oh dear Lord my head is starting to hurt. Just do what Stick Around said and turn that knob on top of the scope in the direction that says "down".

You will not have any trouble getting a 100 yard zero with a 20 moa base. I have had good luck with TPS bases and rings. Others have had problems so YMMV but they are tough to beat for those on a tight budget. BTW, nothing wrong at all with the scope clearance in Stick's picture.

Re: TPS/Warne/EGW bases, and 20moa disadvantages?

Yeah, I'm an idiot. I was thinking too much and confused myself. another member told me what's up and it all fell into place. HAHAAHA

sorry, I got it now.

I did order the 20moa btw.
