I am thinking of trading the two rifles pictured plus the leupold scope for a KAC Sr25emr.

However, I have never held or seen a kac up close.

I know the decision is up to me, but I would like to hear input from others. The sdm clone I built myself but had the barrel installed by a gunsmith. I can shoot the sdm better than the lmt, but with practice I feel the lmt will be just as good.

Would I gain anything in the long run by going with the KAC? They seem to hold value really well, if not increase value. The down side is that to get one I would have to sell two rifles plus an optic. If I went with the kac, the suppressor would be in the future for sure.

Just curious what others would do in this situation. Max range around me is 700yds and both rifles I have now will shoot this better than me. (I haven't had the lmt with 20" barrel that far yet)

I am huge fan of KAC products. You said it yourself, your choice. Are you wanting to deal with this guy because he accepts trades? Sell one and save up for the KAC. Anyway, probably not helping but I am a similar situation as I want the EMC and have several 223's. Good luck.

Since you asked for opinions; mine is no way!! While the KAC SR25 is a fine weapon system, I would never consider it to be worth its price tag. Our department is currently using them for our DMs and is now evaluating other .308 platforms that appear to be delivering the same accuracy and reliability at half the price.

You would also be limiting yourself to just one caliber (assuming these are the only two rifles you have). Given the 700 yard max range you want to achieve; If I was to limit myself to one gun and caliber it would be along the lines of a MK12 clone in 5.56.

It would depend on if you really want it or not. Some might argue that KAC is very overpriced, but people do buy them, so if it's what you really want...

You are the only one who can really answer that question. Remember this though- you can only shoot one at a time, 2 for 1 isn't always a bad thing if you are getting something better or that you like more.

I'd say no way personally. I've shot KAC's before and was very impressed with the quality that was immediately apparant. That being said my offduty weapons are currently a bone stock ar-15 and DPMS 308.

A big reason why the KAC's are so much is due to the government contracts. The quality is certainly there. But for the same money you could build something more accurate and reliable. If I had all the money in the world i'd prolly buy one, but you can say that about alot of things.

On that same token if you arne't using those two rifles than who cares. I'd rather have a SR-25 that I used every other weekend, than two safe queens which is what 98 percent of the rifles I see on here are for.

I have decided to stick with what I've got.

The point about limiting my self to one caliber above was something I hadn't thought about. The lmt offers me the ability to change into several calibers down the road.

The mian reason I built the .223 ar was to use iron sighted with a sling. Without it, I wouldn't be able to practice that very well. Thanks for the replies.

If you had gone with the 25, I'm pretty sure you would have regretted it after you realized it shot the EXACT SAME as guns that cost half its extravagant price.
