Does anyone have experience flying with reloading components? Powder and primers will pose an obvious challenge but what about bullets or brass? I will be traveling out of state and be flying with southwest. I am curious if I would be able to buy products at a shop I know is in the area we are going to. Thanks in advance.

5 kg of loaded ammo for flying. Unprimed brass and bullets should, in theory, just count towards your normal 50 lbs per checked bag. Individual hazmat items like powder, primers are generally no bueno. Might be able to put together a bunch of primed brass and count it as the 5kg of 'ammo'. The problem with buying components locally once you fly in is lot #s. The jug of Varget you have at home is probably going to be ever so slightly different than the bottle you buy at the destination.
Otherwise it's usually better to just ship stuff ahead - but be prepared to get f$cked on the hazmat fees.
It's part of the reason a lot of competitive shooters drive to big matches (more rounds than 5 kg will cover). International matches, the USA F-class team (in the past) leaned heavily on their sponsors, using say, Berger, to ship our ammo to the destination country and get it through customs well in advance. Then we'd show up and pick it up, shoot the match, and then we were on the hook to get the spent brass home. Either plan ahead (plenty of extra room/weight in the checked bags), or donate it to a local 'friend'. Do not try bringing it back in your carry-on. Watched someone else do that. It was entertaining - from a distance
