I have a TRG-22 with a picatinny rail and was given a Nightforce Benchrest scope (8-32x56) with a Larue unimount. The Larue unimount is very sturdy and convenient but my scope sits high (the objective lens is ~5/8" above the barrel). I'd like to lower the scope so the rifle/scope fits me more comfortably (objective lens clearance of between 0.125"-0.25"). I know there are many TRG users here and would appreciate any suggestions on quality mounts that you have used which would lower my scope height.

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

You want a complete mount or just rings? I currently have Badger Ordnance Medium High Rings on my TRG and the fit is perfect for me. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

It's hard to beat the Spuhr mount for a TRG. It's a one piece mount that goes straight onto the TRG action. They're not cheap but they replace rings and base, and have a bubble level and a great feature to set your scope level to the rifle. We carry them (and use them) as does TNVC. Thanks,
Justin

+1. I love my Spuhr mount.

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

you already have the rail, why buy another rail or fancy mount, for 90$ you can get 2 sets of warne 30mm lows(.08 clearance on trg22 w nightforce 56mm) nothing else is going to hold the scope better than 4 warne rings, if you want to use 3 instead of 4, I would sell you a single for 10$

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

Thanks guys. I will keep the picatinny rail and look into Near and Warne rings. They both offer products that will lower my scope to a better position. The Sphur mount does look interesting (and solid).

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

Near and Spuhr would be great if you weren't using the picatinny rail. My TRG has shot perfectly with Nightforce Ultralite, Seekins and Badger rings.

NF: The easy to nick semi-gloss finish of these rings leave a lot to be desired. Also, I had issues with my scope slipping in these rings at proper torque. Even though I didn't have accuracy issues, I won't ever buy this product again.

Badger: Something about these scream quality & confidence. You cannot go wrong with these.

Seekins: The snag-free design of these rings is great and the angular shape simply looks like it belongs on the action. A bit bulkier than the Badger but lightweight.

You can get Seekins branded as Vortex from OpticsPlanet ... throw down a discount code and you have a best buy product in my opinion.

Re: TRG Scope Mounts

Both me and Near makes mounts for picatinnyrails as well.
So the use of picatinny rail or not is up to the customer.
Personally I prefer without as I have a hard time to see the advantage in a stacked solution.

I have about same setup and it works great. My Near rail has I think a 25MOA base with 1" Badger rings mounted to 5-25 x 56 Premier. Space is about 1/8" from barrel to front scope cover and about 1/4" to scope itself. I have a Holland level mount to scope tube.
