I guess my last post about putting a stock pack on a ruger american was on scout and is now gone so Ill just start a new one here. Not sure which I have exactly, normal vs large. I think its the normal.

Im thinking of building my first ar this year, it will be a dedicated thermal host. I currently have all my recording and batteries in a triad stock pack and they fit nice and snug. Would a normal triad fit on a magpul moe carbine stock? Anyone tried it yet? Or have suggestions for a light stock of another make?

Damn, I dont like the sound of that, Im thinking of running as a 10" sbr with as short of a hand guard as possible. Im wanting everything on this to be small and compact so having all those peripherals on the stock would be ideal.

SBR you will not have much real estate for sure. Not sure how it might work but maybe a brass catching bag mounted on buffer tube then strapped down to stock?? Bottom line probably a custom/red neck solution required.

You can get the packs on a lot of stocks, but generally speaking, the charging handle with hit the front edge of the stockpack. Some people make it work, but that is not my experience.

Crap. Makes me wish that I hadnt already ordered the upper, I might have gone with a side charger instead.

I thought Triad might comment about the large vs standard sizing part.

To me, it looked like your photo was showing the large version? The difference being mostly in how much they taper down at the front of the pouch. Given that the (smaller)standard pouch has a dimensions or 2.5"in height at the front, I would think you would want a stock with more meat where the buffer tube enters?

I think you might be right now that I look into it, Im really wishing I still had that scout thread where I had it all spelled out when I was going through this the first time.

I guess I just need to take it off and put it on someone elses ar to try it out since I cant even remember what which damn pack I have.

Anyone running an alternative pack on the stock to hold a big battery and dvr? Maybe Ill just try and run it with zip ties if nothing else, I did every thing mounted on the hand guard and hated it before getting the pack, now Im looking at a 4-7" hand guard so I will have zero real estate up front for that.

I think if you were willing to run a A1 or A2 stock, your stock pack would fit perfectly. You would of course be giving up the adjustebility.

I wonder how it would work on a luth mba 3 or 4. Obviously 4 is preferable but it three can be adjusted right maybe it would lift the pack off enough for the handle to operate? In case it’s not clear I’m not really familiar ars and in turn with how far a ch even extends out the back of one. Would it work fully extended and just not closed of is fully extended even too close?
