Gunsmithing Trigger adjustment on a Ruger M77mkII VT (Target)

I started playing with the sear engagement and trigger pull weight and my question is if there is a relationship between the two? I can't seem to get the trigger to adjust to a clean break. Does anyone have a guide to properly adjust this trigger? I am looking for about a 2lb pull.

Also does anyone here have any experience with the Rifle Basix trigger for the Target model of the M77? The Rifle Basix model number is the RU-VT. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Rugers are a PITA.
Triggers and scope mounts are the first two reasons on my list as to why.
