Hello all, just have a quick question for you gentlemen. To all the search engine trolls, before you get going telling me to use the search engine, I already did. I would feel much better asking and getting some real time responses. My Remington 700 is equipped with the X-Mark Pro trigger, however it appears to be the first generation in that the weight adjustment screw isn't on the trigger itself. Rather, it's underneath the stock in a metal plate right above the trigger. I read that these rifles are supposed to be shipped with a 3.5lb trigger pull from the factory, and one full rotation counterclockwise should be one full pound of adjustment. I proceeded to rotate the screw one full rotation counterclockwise and noticed the screw had begun to protrude out from its threads ever-so-slightly. So I made a clockwise adjustment 1/4 turn, taking care of that problem. This should yield a trigger pull of 2.75lbs. I re-assembled the rifle, and slammed the butt of the stock on the ground pretty hard multiple times to make sure it wasn't going to misfire, I also checked for proper safety function. It passed both tests. Please let me know if I should test in any other way for proper safety. I tested the pull (I don't have a gauge), and was very satisfied. It was a great improvement. However, my question is, since there was NO thread-locking compound, such as loctite, on the adjustment screw from the factory, do you guys think it is necessary to apply some tomorrow to the head of the screw? I find conflicting information in the search engines. Thank you in advance for your help...
