I have a Geissle SD-E trigger to put into my DPMS LR 308. Question is, since the rifle has not been shot yet, should I shoot it with the stock trigger in it to make sure everything runs smoothly before putting the Geissle in?

Yes, shoot it with the stock trigger to make sure it does not have to go back to DPMS. Also, lube the heck out the moving parts.

Just throw he Geiselle in and roll wih it. The DPMS triggers are usually heavy and creepy and I wouldn't even waste any ammo shooting with it if you have a good trigger ready to go. If there's a problem, just put the original trigger back in, it's a 3 minute job.

You can hardly call whatever DPMS puts in there a trigger. Absolutely horrible. I call it a 15 stage trigger it is so rough. Like dragging a cinder block across your driveway. Change it! Change it now!

Pretty good description of almost every un-modified AR single stage trigger I ever shot with.

I have a JP and a Geiselle SSA-E and like both of them though I would lean towards the Geiselle since it's not adjustable, a super easy install, and for whatever reason just feels more durable and confidence inspiring.

Go ahead and swap it. If something does go sideways you can always swap it back out. Geissle is a very quality trigger not likly to be an issue with it.

I have the LR308, I was disappointed with the accuracy at first, after 250 rounds, it is amazing. I have hit 12x12 steel at 1165 with it and it is very accurate. The barrel just needed some rounds through it. I went with the chip mccormick trigger. The factory one was heavy.
