After adjusting the trigger to a desired weight and measuring, then placing the barreled action back into the stock amd measuring the pull weight again to verify that it did not change. I took the rifle out to the range for testing, the weight changed to a heavier pull.
What may have caused that? I tightened the locking nuts and place a little epoxy on the nuts to keep them from moving.
Help please!!

Re: Trigger Tuning

Sounds like you have something binding or rubbing. The smallest pressure on the safety mechanism or any other pins will increase the drag and pull weight.

Re: Trigger Tuning

When you tightened the lock-nuts did you hold the screws with the screwdriver or allen key to prevent them from moving? If you didn't its quite likely that the screws moved when you locked the lock-nuts. Happens all the time.

On the other hand it could be that you have a remington trigger and they are crap. Some adjust fine and others won't change even if you pull the adjusting screws out.

A little more info on the type and model of trigger would help too.

Re: Trigger Tuning

I re-adjusted the trigger, I went back and started over. I removed the epoxy again. I suspect when I placed the epoxy on the lock nuts I got some on the spring and that may have caused the trigger to feel heavier after the epoxy finished hardening. This time I used nail polish on the jam nuts and torqued the action and its shooting much better. Now I have a little creep so I have to go back in there and try to tune the creep out. Wish me luck!
