I was wondering what everybody is using in there AR-10 platform (be it armalite/dpms or whatever) rifles for triggers? Also i was wondering what a good pull weight and amount of creep is in one of these setups. Thanks in advance.

Re: Trigger Weight Question?

I would recommend no lower than 3.5lbs, and no more than 5.5lbs. My MWS came stock with a LMT 2stage trigger that was 5.5lbs. I immediately swapped it out for a spare KAC 2stage match trigger I had in my parts bin and it has a combined pull weight of 4.5lbs. Finally I recently put a Geissele 2stage SD-E in it which will be the ultimate trigger I'm gonna be using in it. It has a combined pull weight of 3.5lbs.

As far as creep goes....just say no!:)

Re: Trigger Weight Question?

What are you planning on doing with it? I am running a AR Gold 2 stage in a AR15 (they make a AR10 version) at 2 pounds and it is absolutely amazing. After setting it to 2 pounds I took the lower off and hit the butt stock on the floor pretty hard many time to simulate a drop and it did not trip the trigger. Even if it did, the AR gold trigger has a backup catch so the trigger goes from 2 pounds normal pull to about 5 pounds if it does release from the first sear by accident. That and the fact the the safety captures the hammer so there is no chance of it going off makes it my favorite trigger.

Re: Trigger Weight Question?

Get yourself a Geissele SSA-E and take the guess work out of it. It's a non-adjustable two stage trigger with a first stage pull of 2.3lbs and a second stage pull of 1.2lbs. It's superb.

Re: Trigger Weight Question?

I have a Geissele Hi-Speed DMR in one and a KAC 2-stage in another. I'd vote for the Geissele; just a better feel. There's a bit of work involved in bending the trigger spring and whatnot to get the pull where you want it, so if you're not comfortable with that I'd recommend going with the SSA-E which is setup right from the factory and non-adjustable. In fact, if the SSA-E were available at the time I would've went with that over the Hi-Speed.

Oh, and for what it's worth I've never had any function issues with the DMR and it has no problem touching off mil-spec primers.

Re: Trigger Weight Question?

FWIW - Les Baer puts a two-stage adjustable Geissele in all of their custom AR-style rifles. I'll get mine in (hopefully within the month) and can't wait to shoot it. All of the other Geissele triggers I've ever shot have been fantastic.
