Rifle Scopes Trijicon 42mm Reflex

Re: Trijicon 42mm Reflex

This would not be my first pick for an AR optic. The concept while clever, has several issues. The biggest issue is the dot and sunlight. In many carbine classes I have been to, many Relflex users while engaging small targets at distance in bright sunlight had to put something over the light gathering window as the dot would bloom excessivley and obscure the target.

Also, when standing in a dark area and looking out into a bright area, the dot is not visible enough to be useful as it requires light to operate. Yes, it has tritium for nightime use but it is not powerful enough to use looking into a bright area from a dark area. The Trijicon ACOG's suffer from the same issue.

An Aimpoint is a better choice.

Re: Trijicon 42mm Reflex

The Trijicon reflex are really nice in low light, but like singlestack wonder mentions the reticle washes out very easily in bright conditions. I had an older model and it wasn't used for anything but weekend shooting, nothing serious. I still got rid of it due to the washout issues.

Now you spcifically mention low light situations and there the Trij was really impressive. If you think that you are only going to be using it in low light you'd be fine.

Not sure what to offer as an alternative, just know that I wasn't overly impressed with the Trij overall.
