hi guys:

I rarely post here, mostly on 24hourcampfire.

I have a Leupold 12-40 spotting scope.

LInk to scope: http://www.leupold.com/observation/produ...ing-12-40x60mm/

I need a good solid tripod. Weight is not an issue. Smaller size is good. I will be using it here:

http://www.thunderranchinc.com/courses.html#HERT

I am assuming that this one is the right size:

http://www.leupold.com/observation/produ...compact-tripod/

It is also in the price range (under $100).

I called cameraland new york (link: http://www.cameralandny.com/ )

They sponsor 24hourcampfire.

In my price rage, they recommended this one:

Or this one:

I understand that manfrotto is the standard, but not emough $$$ right now.

Comments or suggestions welcome.

Re: Tripod for Spotting scope

I use a Ultra-pod that like $14 bucks. Works great so far and it's compact!

Re: Tripod for Spotting scope

BMT, I used a medium PSR tripod with one of his rifle cradles at two different high angle courses at Thunder Ranch a couple of years ago.

The tripod performed perfectly, you'll like the light weight and how well it can hold a 16 pound rifle in the improvised firing points you'll encounter on the mountain.

Have fun up there.

I use and recommend the Slik Mini Sprint
