I built an AR in 6.5 Creedmore and am having trouble.
Parts;
Aero M5 upper and lower. Had for several years and am just now gettin into building it
Bolt, carrier etc. that I think came with the upper and lower
Faxon 24 inch fluted barrel in 6.5 Creedmore. Purchased from Optics Planet a few months ago
SA adjustable gas block
Lower parts kit I ordered with lower

I am having the following trouble. When using Hornady 140 gr bthp , American Gunner brand loads the nose of the bullet stops on the edge of the barrel maybe 1/16th of an inch from the edge of the chamber. Remington Core Lokt feeds into the chamber and functions fine but I believe the tip of the bullet is getting deformed on the edge of the barrel. Hornady Match 147 gr eld chamber but deforms the ballistic tip. Headspace was checked and seems to be good using tape, that mics about .003 in, on the head it will not lock up. I have a message to Faxon but have not heard back yet. Any advice is appreciated.

I have also tried changing the spring tension on the magazine release mechanism
as I read in other post about magazine alignment causing problems with feeding. I have not experienced trouble on the feed ramp itself.

Is that a step in the chamber (for lack of a better description) that the bullet tip is impacting?
The step, that I think you mean is the edge of the barrel that is slightly tapered before the chamber. The rest of the barrel is perpendicular to the chamber and there is a lighter colored ring that is part of the barrel extension the barrel is pressed into. It sort of appears that the barrel has a taper but it is flat or 90 degrees to the chamber except for a slight relief cut instead of a 90 degree sharp edge. My terminology may be off describing this so bear with me..

Might just be the angle of the picture but the round looks to be way to high on the magazine for only being pushed forward about half way.
Its still under the feed lips at this point. Ive thought maybe the magazine alignment is off but all three magazines repeat the problem.. Magazines insert and lock in well.

Just out of curiosity have you tried to feed a round with the magazine slightly lower in the magwell as in just before it latches up ?
It would allow the round to make contact with the feed ramp at a slightly lower angle and guide it more into the chamber instead of the breach face.
Could also mean the lower is out of spec but just a guess.

Ill try that

I think you're going to find that the problem is with the "feed ramps" of the barrel extension. I went down this hole with a .260 barrel some time ago. Someone had opened that portion of the extension too much so a .308 bullet would work but a .264 bullet and smaller neck just passed through and jammed the bullet into the back of the barrel below the chamber.

I wouldn't bother playing with magazines. I messed around up to and including cutting back the lips on an ASC mag to try and get the rounds to pop out and just push feed in. See if Faxon will do anything for you.

Personally, I would try polishing the edge of the chamber , right where your bullet tip is hitting ( nothing crazy ) just use a shotgun bore mop and some polish, on the end of a section of USGI cleaning rod, spun via a cordless drill.

BE SURE TO GET ALL THE FUZZ / POLISH OUT PRIOR to letting the BCG lock closed !!!!!!

Otherwise you will see how little material it takes to bind up a BCG. ( Remember the Bumblebee BCG lock up video ? )

And try polishing the magazine feed lips front edge ... as seen in your pic..

Just my 2 cents. ... IMHO , a few minutes polishing "could" be all it needs.
