true bc

There are so many tempting responses here, but my New Year's Eve resolution was not to be such a smartass. So...The AB application says G1=0.482, G7=0.247. Of course, the Custom Curve says 1.0. Maybe just try that one and see if it makes the pills have more kinetic. Fuck, I just failed. Dammit.

no you didn't fail that is exactly what i need. Hornaday publishes G-7 at .279 that is why i need AB actual. two weeks ago my son shot his 6.5 creedmoor across ABs radar Hornaday 140 eldm advertised G7 bc ,326 actual in flight bc >300 average deviation of less than 1 percent and using ABs dope shot one of his best scores! i think Hornaday is puffing its bc numbers up. again thank you for the info i am going to use it Sunday in a 600 yard match and again in a week in a prs match this bullet shoots Half moa all the way to 600 but my dope is allways just a little off so we will see

The older values from Shooter are G1 0.554 and G7 0.279

If you poke around in the various PDM's you'll see values in this range, the cartridges aren't mentioned but likely faster velocities than a Creedmoor as the mobile lab tends to show up at ELR type events.

Recall the ID number they gave him? I can see if it shows in the app.

Also the BC info Hornady publishes depends where you are looking. All of their "match" projectiles they have banded BC info which again can be closer to what you see than the single number average.

does anyone have the true in flight BC for the Hornaday 6,5 mm 130 gr e-ldm as published in the applied ballistics book? I need the info for an up coming match thanks!
Haha, I failed in that my smartass came through a little bit. The banded BC that 6.5SH published above may be helpful to you. I run multiple BCs on my ELR rifle because I haven't found a BC or Custom Curve that matches perfectly, especially in the trans (yeah, I said it) range. That said, The Custom Curve feature on AB is supposed to account for the ballistic coefficient change at different muzzle velocities. In the old days, like before smartphones, I ran Nightforce's Ex-Bal program that you could input segmented BCs like those above, and the program would discriminate which BC to use based on the other inputs. However, if you're willing to believe Mr. Litz's adjusted BCs, you might consider using his entire program and benefiting from the custom curves that he has derived from real-world testing. Good luck with your upcoming match.
