So my lee single stage press arrived today. I know lee isnt the best brand in the world but I only get to shoot about 2-3 times a months so longevity is relative. Anyway, I spent the latter half of the afternoon figuring out how to assemble and mount the press. I followed the instructions and watched some youtube videos, and made some bullets.
I just wanted to make sure I sized everything correctly because that might be my issue with the misfires. I sized with the collet neck sizing die. I assume that I do not need to use the full length sizing die because this brass is fireformed to my chamber.
The instructions say to screw the collet neck sizing die in till it touches the top of the case holder then turn it 1 full turn. Does this sound correct? I thought there would be a more scientific way of doing this since it is how I am going to be resizing my brass.
Then i set up the bullet seating die. The lee instructions were way off on setting this up. It said to screw the bullet seating die in until it touched the case holder then turn it in 1/4th of a turn. The first bullet I seated was 2.6something OAL! I pulled that one and backed the die out 5 or 6 turns and dialed it in to 2.799.
Anyway, I loaded about 20 rounds. I had some federal brass laying around that had crimps in the primer pocket so I took the chamfer tool that came in this kit and reamed the primer pocket holes. I loaded 4 of those just to see if they work or not.
