Trying to finish a rifle. I have a Stevens 200 that I bought in 243. So far I have changed out the bolt head to a 223, new barrel chambered in 223AI, Rifle Basics trigger. Im looking into a Choate Tactical stock factory detachable mag so I can put CDI bottom metal on it and get the AICS 223 mag. Does anyone have a setup thats close with the DBM and mags and or stock? I have looked up everything from pics to other posts looking for any problems I may run into but haven't talked to anyone with the combo.

Re: Trying to finish a Savage build?

I ordered my choate stock directly from Jeff at CDI. I got a great price on the stock and he inletted it for his bottom metal which I ordered as well, made it a turn key step in my build process. Call Jeff and see if he can help you with the .223, I did a 260 build and have been very impressed with the Choate.

All out of stock there but I did just talk to Jeff at CDI Precision Gun Works and he was very helpful. He can order in a Choate Tactical, inlet it and put his bottom metal on it for a good price. He is going to get me numbers tomorrow. Im pumped!

Re: Trying to finish a Savage build?

AXEMAN, I sent them both PM's but its a "no go". Midway has them new for $220 new and running their discount codes if I got the CDI for $210 off them as well, the package comes to around the same price as going direct through Jeff at CDI. The factory Choate stock will still have to be inletted slightly for the BM to sit flush. If not, it will stick up about 1/8 -1/4" near the front action screw and thats about $60 to have that done if you dont have a mill for yourself.
