I have owned a wide range of optics over the years. I had a K624i, HDMR, and the F1 SHV. The K624i being the highest quality optic I have ever owned.

I am saving up for a new optic. Usage will be for hunting and precision rifle matches. Initially, I had my mind made up on a Mark 5, but I don’t think it will last me a long time. It would just be an improvement over the SHV I had.

The optic would be going on a 24” 224V in a AR platform.

Nothing against the tt315 but the reticle selection is not the best as we know.
I don't think the gen2xr is super useable on lower power due to how thin it is. Which leaves the gen2 mil dot as the more viable choice but that doesn't do much for me.

If you're looking for that 3-15 range have you considered the hensoldt 4-16? Super compact, good reticles, awesome glass. Only downside is the single turn turret with 14.5 mils.

You also asked for a vs. S&B. In the S&B family there is the 3-20 regular and the US.
For a S/A rifle the 3-20 is an amazing optic. I’m not positive because I have the H2CMR in mine, but they might do a H59 (again, I’m NOT sure) but in a gasser, that would be a HELL aid a neat optic for quite a bit less than the TT. Just an option to look into.

Nice. Euro Optic has 3-20x PMii with H59 for $3300 which is quite a bit less than a TT. Is the TT really that much better than a S&B?

To me it is, I've owned about 5 S&B's and a couple TT's I now only have a TT525P and a Premier 3-15 tactical. I was using the Premier as my PRS scope this season. Gen2 mil dot for the win! Ahahaha it can get the job done.
Reticle selection is going to be much better with S&B though. On an AR I'd look at the ultra short series from s&b the rest can get lengthy real quick.

What makes it so much better? When I went from a HDMR to a K624i, it was an out of this world difference when it came to glass quality and mechanisms. Is the TT the same way over the S&B or is it just better side-by-side? The price difference between the two is a lot of ammo and some match fees.

Turrets are best in the industry hands down. No one has ever argued that. I much prefer them to the cramped S&B turrets. The parallax is by far the most forgiving. It's basically parallax free after 200 yards. As in, you don't have to touch the knob at all. And the glass, yea S&B is great but with a TT it is undoubtedly the best. Color, contrast, no CA, dof is unreal. With the gen3xr it's by far better than any S&B reticle currently.

Also, I was would ask you to take a look at this post #25 from this thread. It's in reference to the kahles vs the minox zp5 and the TT is better than the Minox.

Ok, so the big guy from Texas is going to make me eat my words :) Obviously, if he says too much, he'll look like he is only saying it because thats his 3k scope.. so I'll chatter it up.

I have said after shooting both the Kahles, S&B, Razor and Minox all in the 5-25 class, that all the glass is great. I've gone on to say, the difference in glass, is not high on my list for why I might choose one over the other. Comparing them all on a bright day they seem so close. I was even telling Lonestar before the match, that I thought my Minox was the best glass, but only by the smallest of margin at max power. I went on to say that really if your looking at the shape of bullet holes at 100 or reading text the Minox is better than the Kahles, but in the end, I was sticking to my guns that the difference just was not that great.

Fast forward to the 22NRL match under a few range lights. I had a Vortex 5-25 gen 2 on my Vudoo and in the daylight this scope also looks great. Under the dark of night, with less than perfect range lights, everyone had a hard time seeing targets at 100 yards, especially in the shadows. They announce the winner and we start horsing around. Personally, I was in a good mood, my gear was assume.. soooo I thought.

Lonestar comes out show us something, it might have been his CKYE bipod. I am not sure.. But the darn guy puts his centerfire on the line and looks thru his Minox then says "Man, It looks like someone just fired up a spotlight". LOL, I look thru it and suddenly realize my Vortex is dark as, well the night. I walk back to my car and grab my centerfire with the Kahels 525, yep, it is noticeably better than my Vortex; but the Minox now blows both my scopes away. More guys grab their centerfires... That damn Minox was in a class by itself.. Now everyone but Lonestar, was a bit less happy with their gear...

It really did look like someone was running extra lamps on the range. I'm eating my words, the glass is in another class.
