I have been doing some research on tube guns. Looks like a pretty accurate type of rifle. I see alot of them being used in Palma shooting. Any one using them for a tac rifle? Thoughts and if you are using one could you give me your specs and who built it for you.

Re: Tube Guns

I have owned and shot both an elisio and a mak in tactical comps.
I liked both very well. Personally I would lean towards the elisio for F class type shooting, and a mak for tactical / field type shooting.
My mak was built by Nate @ straight shot gunsmithing , he did an excellent job.

The elisio had a Pierce action which I highly reccomend .

MAK, M700, chambered in tight neck 6x47L, 26" Schneider Tudd contour, 7.5 twist-melonited, SSG brake, PTG fluted and bushed bolt with Tubb lightweight firing pin and extra power spring, SSG bolt knob, Jewel trigger with bottom safety. Currently HDMR 3.5-21/H-59 scope with ARC rings not in pic.

115 DTACS at 3030 fps.

Re: Tube Guns

I think I saw a pic of yours once or maybe it was Scott's ???

Looks like Nathan built 2-3 of them nearly identical. Been a great rifle. He must be a super gunsmith because the first barrel shot like a friggen 6PPC.

Itching for a TRG22 now. All because of Scott "the corrupter",LOL.

Steve,
nice rifle! Considering the same set-up in a 6XC.
Glued action into the stock? Weight? Barrel contour? Balance? Any problems with the bottom safety Jewell trigger?
Thanks

Re: Tube Guns

Thanks Kevin,

I haven't had a scale around since I moved but IIRC it was 16.5lbs as is in the pic with the Nightforce 5.5-22.

The action isn't glued in because I had been considering a Surgeon action for it which never happened.

Oops...I forgot to put the barrel contour. It's a Tubb contour,a little lighter than medium palma I believe. Balances just about right,a tad front heavy. I might do a fluted Tubb contour next time.

No problems with the Jewel so far. A little tricky getting the DBM past the safety knob but other than that it doesn't get in the way of your fingers or anything else. Got it set at 22oz.

I tried shooting a couple of my other rifles at the AZPRC today for the fun of it. The conclusion is that it's pretty darn hard to beat my MAK. Does everything well.
