Re: TUNING FACTORY REM 700 TRIGGERS
'Scuse me but I'm a well above average idiot, thank you very much.....
Seriously though, don't fret my 20 ounce '85 Rem trigger. It's been that way quite a while having been through two barrels since it came to me on a new .270 BDL, and now on a second rifle as we speak. Flawlessly holding it's weight all these years. Well maintained, never ignored or taken for granted; and most often hunted "cold chamber"...as I NEVER fully trust any mechanical device, especially a firearm's "safety", regardless of whatever the trigger weight may be.
Gun safety is a sore spot with me anyway. It starts in the head, not the weapon...as so many "responsible" peeple profess from atop their high horses. If someone is ignorant enough of where that muzzle is pointed and an "accident" is likely to happen, then a 15 pound trigger isn't going to make them any fucking safer.
Not saying every old Rem trigger can be adjusted that way, nor am I saying everyone that owns one should try it...and I'm damn sure not standing here with blind ego recommending it to anyone either. All I'm saying is that your blanket statement was made false with my mere example of only one. Never had another I could do it with either, 2 pounds is as low as I could go with any other.
I'm sure this one is a rare jewel that wasn't made on a Monday, or a Friday......
